Senior Engineer - Android

Role Overview

ETV's Android app is built on Flutter with native Android underneath, and its next chapter is the car - Android Auto, connected-car experiences, and voice. This role owns app features end-to-end and is judged on what production data says: crash rate, startup time, stability, and engagement. It suits someone who has lived with an app after launch, not only shipped one. Experience required: 3-5 years.

What You'll Work On

• The ETV mobile app on Flutter and native Android
• Android Auto applications and the connected-car experience
• Voice-enabled experiences
• Backend API and third-party SDK integration
• App performance, stability, and reliability, and production troubleshooting

Who Is Right for This Role

• 3-5 years across Flutter and Dart plus native Android in Kotlin and/or Java
• Has designed or operated an app handling 10k+ DAU
• Has improved app performance, stability, or user engagement by 10%+, measured through production metrics such as startup time and crash rate
• Has maintained an app in production for more than a year, through OS upgrades, API deprecations, and device fragmentation
• Works in a metrics-driven way - analytics and app performance shape what gets built and changed
• Solid on Android SDK and lifecycle, Jetpack components, state management (Bloc, Provider, Riverpod), REST APIs, and Git

Who Isn't a Fit

• Has not maintained an app in production for more than 1 year
• Has not worked in a metrics-driven production environment where analytics and app performance influenced what was built or changed

How You'll Work

• Willing to spend up to 10 days in the office during onboarding to get to know the team and engineering ecosystem.
• Actively participates in daily standups and weekly connects.
• Actively participates in technical discussions.
• Communicates clearly and proactively.
• Uses asynchronous communication effectively, providing enough context to make decisions offline.
• Available and responsive for important calls and team discussions during regular office hours and occasionally outside of them.
